This article discusses the ratio of men to women in different countries all over the world. It is interesting to see that overall there are a lot more men total, but in some countries, the women largely outnumber them. When comparing gender, it is helpful to use ratios in order to simplify the information and make it easier to see.

Ad
I feel that phone companies are very competitive. The majority of ads that claim they have a better quality than a similar item are phone companies. One example of this is the T-Mobile You Got It, Amweica: 30 comercial. In this comercial T-Mobile compares itself to AT&T, and Verision Wireless. T-Mobile claims that its unlimited plans are half the price of AT&T and Version Wireless. The ratio of this would be 1:2 or 1/2. The 1 stands for T-Mobile and the 2 stands for AT&T and Version Wireless.
I saw this commercial on TV and looked it up on youtube. This is the web address

Ratio Commercial
In this Sprint commercial, it uses ratios to help sell their product. More specifically, to show how many people are breaking up with each other, and the method they are using (phone, email, texts, etc). They also use numbers to show how many people are doing various things, now. Sprint shows this in a funny format.
Verizon Vs. AT&T
I found that the Verizon Wireless ads recently have been to try and out sine AT&T and vise versa. But Verizon says that they have 5 times more 3G coverage than AT&T while AT&T says theirs is the fastest.

Commericial to TV show ratio
I found an article written by a person who timed the commercial time during a TV show. They used the last 72 minutes of the finale of the TV show Lost and found that 24 out of the 72 minutes were commercials. This made a 2:1 commercial to show ratio.

Game Rating
I found a video on youtube of X-Play (a video game rating show) give Dragon Age: Origins a rating out of 5. 2 minutes and 20 seconds into the video, the male host, Adam, gives the game a 5:5. It only takes 2 minutes and 20 seconds because they must first explain the game and things like that.
YouTube
I found a video on YouTube of the changes they made to their videos a couple years ago. They changed their video quality to wide screen, and made the picture fill up the video box on a 2:1 ratio concerning pixels. ("2 pixels wide per pixel high")
Please turn off the annotations in the bottom right corner...or a box will cover the video up the whole time.

Ratio in Commercial
This is a commercial for Trident sugarless gum. It was first aired in 1971. It claimed that "4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum for their patients who chew gum." This is the ratio 4:5. (This commercial was later parodied by Trident, in response to being asked why the fifth dentist didn't recommend sugarless gum.)

Ratio in Ad
This is a 1952 ad in Life magazine for A&P coffee featuring a ratio that describes how popular their coffee is.
This article (Safe patient to nurse ratio) talks about the ratio of nurses to patients and the fact that some areas of the hospital have more patients than others. There is a ratio of 1:2 for nurses to patients with trauma while there is a ratio of 1:1 for nurses to burn victims.
